There is a different time and place.
When yester-year was the moment and
Tomorrow is the burden for the future.
Where all that the eyes can see is the world
And what lies beyond the sea is of stretched relevance.
Such a country fades with forgetfulness and neglect.
And yet reviving the colors and fragrance of this other world
Evokes the heart to humanity’s emotions.
What gives when a father falls to weeping in his son’s embrace?
What gives when a son is awakened
By the choking tears and dry heaves of his father?
What gives when a century of life
Is reduced to a question of why there must be suffering?
People of one kin in two worlds.
The tears of father and son are of two lives lived apart,
Two stores staggered by two-plus decades,
Two paths that are one,
Two souls converging toward one like end for all.
Because mortality and legacy bind and subjugate all men–
All must face Hades’ faceless greeting.
